Memories of 2021

 2021 and the pandemic continues.

Another year of being very cautious about mixing and socialising, so art has become a big part of my daily life, going back to favourite techniques and trying new ones.

Over the year I've:  cyanotype printed, mono printed, thermofax printed, embroidered, collaged, plaster cast flowers,  gold-leafed, embroidered some more and mono printed some more! 

Walking has also been a big part of my daily routine and we have made the most of having the New Forest right on our doorstep.

December

 The theme for this week is December.

I have put together a small collage of December images, some new and some old.

Nature

 This week the theme is Nature.

I found this beautiful lichen covered twig on a bed

of fallen autumn leaves while I was out for a chilly walk this week.

Tiny

 The theme this week is Tiny.

I found the tiniest little tea cup and made a miniature nest in it.

It is sat on an ivy leaf to give you an idea of size.

November

This week the theme is November.

I was given an acorn vase recently - so I found an acorn.

I soaked it in water for 24 hours, wrapped it in kitchen towel until it sprouted and then placed it on the acorn vase and waited.

I don't associate November with new beginnings but this is my first attempt at growing a tree and so far it's going well!

Stripes

 This week the theme is Stripes, and I'm afraid I've had to hit the archives as real life has kept me so busy!  

These photos are of a dry stone wall by one of my favourite artists Andy Goldsworthy.  We saw some of his amazing work while we were holidaying in the Lake District a few years ago.  

If you haven't seen his work before he is definitely worth a Google!

Cold

The theme this week is Cold.  

The garden is chilly, wet and uninviting but we need to get out and tidy it up before winter sets in!

A Book

 The theme this week is A Book.

This beautiful book was a charity shop find - I love the marbling on it, especially on the page edges, which I thought was rather unusual.

 This week the theme is October.

I picked up these glossy berries on a local walk - I'm not sure what they are but I love the colour!

Fall Foliage Colours

 The theme for this week is Fall Foliage colours.

These were found on a woodland walk in the New Forest.

 Our theme for this week is On the Plate, and what better than

September

 The theme for this week is September.

Still lots of bright sunshine and a mini heatwave, but small signs that the leaves are changing and Autumn is on it's way.

Signs of Autumn

The theme for this week is Signs of Autumn.

I captured these blooms while on a walk -  l like how they are all in different stages of decay - they definitely look like their summer is nearly over.

Thin

 This week the them is Thin.

Real life has taken up my time this week so I have had to hit the archives.

Sea Holly is such a beautiful plant, but the long, thin spikes are incredibly sharp!

Something Red

 The theme this week is Something Red.

A small collection of our home grown produce waiting to be eaten - courgette, beans and the first shiny red tomatoes of the year!

August

 The theme this week is August.

This morning I found a beautiful Agapanthus stem lying on the path.  I planted it last summer and it's so very pretty - white flowers with petals tipped in pale blue.

I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the stems in full bloom very soon.

Lovely Summer

 This week the theme is Lovely Summer.

This is one of my favourite walks near our local beach.  It's a lovely meadow walk packed with wild flowers, and a little bit of cloud to keep us cooler!

Shiny

 This week the theme is Shiny.

I love how crystal and cut glass really dazzle in the sunlight.

Childhood

 The theme this week is childhood.

This is a watercolour of me as a young child, painted by my dear mum.

July

 July is the theme for this week.

 Our lawn has been covered in weeds and I managed to pick some pretty Plantain flowers before it was mown!

Moss

This week the challenge is Moss.

This is an Easter wreath I made using dried moss, twigs, feathers and quail eggs.  A little late for Easter but it fits the challenge well!

So Green

 This week the challenge is So Green.

When a very dear family friend passed away recently, her daughter gave me a basket of Lily of the Valley from her mum's garden to remember her by - it was always her favourite flower.  I shall be replanting them soon into a peaceful little corner of the garden where I hope they will flourish.
